Dear First Constituency of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,

By joining the first list I know of in support of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and supporting our goal of putting this document into passports, where people might find it and read it, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU. We have a big job in front of us but it is a necessary one. The world awaits the best document written for all of us.

Imagine waiting in line at customs in a big international airport. Instead of standing in line anxious to get through, imagine all of us reading the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, together, while we wait.

Or some terrific and curious young boy or girl finds a thrown away passport in a garbage dump. They sit down, read their rights, and go home with all the knowledge they need to change the world they live in.

Free the Universal Declaration of Human Rights! Give it to the people, especially those who need it most, bother governments till they work for us, chase the torturer out of the chamber, give some food to the starving, get our children into good schools and allow even the poorest the care of a good nurse and doctor.

Hey let us go for it! It is our time.

December 10 – Show YOUR Support for Human Rights

December 10 is here! The 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights!

This site was done in order to create awareness on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and of its Anniversary, by trying to get as many of you to blog/pod/video blog about it, showing YOUR opinion on human rights issues all over the world!

This blog post is meant to promote all of you out there who signed our Petition to print the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in passports, who support this document, and make everyone you know aware of this documents’ existence. Therefore, I am asking you to trackback to this post, or write a comment on it, with links to your actions!

I encourage people that live in less developed countries to write about the human rights issues in their own countries – it is a great way to open the eyes of the world on how people are being abused in places that not everybody is aware of the fact that such abuses exist.

Thank you all! Can’t wait to see what your opinions are on Human Rights!

Day 3: Thanksgiving!

On Thanksgiving we have passed 600 signatures on our petition to print the UDHR in passports! As a little thank you, I have asked our last 3 petitioners before #600 to tell us a little bit about themselves, and the reason for which they have signed! Number 599 did not write back yet, but Mitsi McKee and Matt Haltom did.

Thank you both very much for sending a few words for our One Day for Human Rights, and for your support!

I signed the petition because I think character means doing the right thing — even when no-one is watching.

If i could only impart only ONE thing to my sons throughout their lives it would that we are all humans, and as such….deserving of equal amounts of respect. No matter what!

MATT HALTOM – Another Color Web

I am a graphic and web designer in Boulder Colorado. I wouldn’t say I’m an activist in any sense, and most of the time my opinions are very two sided.

After hearing about One Day for Human Rights on Twitter, I checked it out. Taking in everything, any decent person can assume that things like torture, slavery and oppression are wrong. Even in our crazy changing world, politics seems to rain supreme sometimes.

My hope is that in signing the petition, lawmakers and leaders around the world might take note. Perhaps one day people everywhere can agree on one thing, our rights as humans.

I think it’s great to get to hear the reasoning behind these signatures…what makes people stand for human rights and support the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These are just 2 examples, but I will definitely ask more people. Maybe you can LEAVE A COMMENT with what motivated YOU to sign the petition!
